Hit-and-Run Leaves 9-Year-Old Girl in Critical Condition
CHICAGO — A 9-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a horrific hit-and-run incident occurred on the Far South Side of the city. The incident took place at around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday in the 9500 block of South Paxton Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood.
Details of the Incident
The young girl was crossing the street with two other women when a driver in a silver SUV disregarded a red light and struck her, according to the police report. The impact of the collision left the girl severely injured, and she was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
Search for the Driver
Unfortunately, the driver responsible for the hit-and-run fled the scene immediately following the incident and has not been apprehended by authorities yet. Despite efforts to locate the driver, no leads have been identified, leaving the community shocked and outraged.
Fortunately, no other injuries were reported as a result of the collision. The Major Crash Unit is currently conducting an investigation to gather more information and hopefully bring the perpetrator to justice.
